Skinny Tea is rather new to the market, and they offer a detox line of teas in mediocre packaging that is not aesthetically appealing to the eye. Their website it basic, and they offer you no information about themselves as a company, which makes them appear impersonal right away. They do not have a ton of different bundle packs to choose from to make you more confused, but let’s take a look at their products that they offer:

14 day Tea Detox set of morning, and evening teas: $25.00

    Ingredients:

  • Ashwaganda Root
  • Celery Leaf
  • Goji Berries
  • Jasmine Tea
  • Lemon Grass
  • Nettle Leaf
  • Sencha Green Tea
  • Senna Leaf
  • Yerba Mate

28 day Tea Detox set of morning and evening teas: $45.00

    Ingredients:

  • Ashwaganda Root
  • Celery Leaf
  • Goji Berries
  • Jasmine Tea
  • Lemon Grass
  • Nettle Leaf
  • Sencha Green Tea
  • Senna Leaf
  • Yerba Mate

Bestie Pack: $69.00, which is a double order of the 14-day tea detox for you and a friend

Already, there are red flags with this company as there are 2 highly controversial ingredients in their basic product. Ashwaganda Root is dangerous, and is hyperlinked above (multiple times for a reason). It has been known to cause miscarriages, and if you are a diabetic it will mess with your medication as it can lower your blood sugar levels. No thank you!! Senna leaves are another controversial ingredient, as they are a laxative. Many companies try to mask it and say it is a “gentle” laxative but it is really just a plain old laxative that will have you going to the bathroom a lot. This is great at first, but it is not true weight loss.

Skinny Tea Claims

They claim on the website: “Contains caffeine. Do not use this product if you have abdominal pain or diarrhea. Consult a healthcare provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Do not exceed recommended dose. Not for long-term use.”

They also claim on the website, “This product may produce a laxative effect and can be toxic in high doses. Strictly follow our specific guideline enclosed in your pack unless otherwise recommended by your healthcare professional.”

Their return policy is also very, very weak. See statement: “Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.”

Finally on the website, they say to their customers “We do not guarantee, represent or warrant that your use of our service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free. We do not warrant that the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable.”

Skinny Tea Scientific Backing

I am going to keep this short, and say NO they do not… at all. It is just a sketchy product overall, that wouldn’t care to tell its customers how it came up with its formula.

Is Skinny Tea Effective?

The website is full of cheesy testimonials that bore me to death. They are giddy, and they seem fake. (Even though hey they may not be!) It works if you want it to work, AKA- You incorporate diet and exercise with you tea. The senna leaves are going to allow you to lose weight initially, but it won’t be hard work weight loss that stays off long term. The tea alone will not be enough to get you “skinny” as they claim it will do. They even tell the customers right on their website that this tea is not for long term use. I would not risk my money or my health with this product.

Does Skinny Tea Have Side Effects?

Yes. A couple of pretty scary ones to be exact, which I personally would not want to risk. The ingredients in this tea will basically make your birth control pill and other uses of contraceptive pills stop working, as well as cause danger to your child if you are pregnant. The ingredients will mess with your blood sugar medications, and it they also have been known to cause headaches, and diarrhea. This short list of side effects alone is enough to keep me away, as there are a lot of better tea detoxes on the market that will not cause harm to your health.

What Is Skinny Tea Support Like?

I am laughing out loud right now, as this company doesn’t even talk about itself let alone give you an adequate support system. Oh, my bad you can e-mail in. (That’s real convenient if you really have an issue going on). Not. They say right on their contact form: “We'll try to reply within 24-48 hours but could take longer... however we will respond.” Because this company is based out of Australia, the shipping alone would be enough to turn me away (minus knowing everything else). It will take nearly 3 weeks if everything goes as planned. If you do not like the product they only give you 30 days to send it back, so you will be cutting it close if you even want to try out the tea.

The Bottom Line

This company offers a tea line that is overrated. I would not go near this tea with a ten-foot pole, as the ingredients are sketchy and the shipping is a disaster. Not to mention, they do not sell their product on any other site, which means they want control over their reviews (this is bad). The controversial ingredients, lack of backing, slow shipping, and bad money back guarantee are enough for me to walk past this company without having a second thought. Save your body, time, and energy from Skinny Tea and find a more honorable company to do business with!
